Thirty

Have you wondered as a child on how life would be like when you turned 30?

When you were 13, 30 felt like an eternity away. When you turn 30, you realise time and tide wait for no man and you are no longer that teenager who can run 2.4km without stopping, who can party overnight with yawning, who can flaunt a bikini without worrying about stretchmarks or a saggy tummy.

I remember when I was a child, I had many ambitions.

I wanted to be a pilot. I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to be a teacher. I even dreamt of being a career woman and becoming the CEO of a multi-million company.

Dreams. Can't live without them, can we?

Then as I grew up and started talking to my peers about marriage and life, I set goals for myself. To get married at 26 and have my first kid at 28.

I kind of aced that because I got married at 25, gave birth to my first kid at 26 and had my second at 29. All that happened because my life changed forever the moment I decided to follow the hubby to Sweden and ended up stepping into the magical journey of motherhood.

You see, we never know where life brings us, no matter how well we planned it. The point of it is to take each day as it comes and make the most out of it. Instead of lamenting over how things are not what you anticipated, we have to learn to deal with the curve balls of life and see the good that comes out of every situation.

Today, I turn 30. Yes, welcome me in, 30s club.

I am a mum. I am a full-time housewife. I am a blogger.

Was it how I imagined my life would be like? No, not really. I didn't expect myself to fall in love with clearing poo and picking out boogers.

But frankly speaking, I'm not that apprehensive nor do I dread entering the thirties. In fact, I'm at the best time of my life yet. I have two bubbly girls to remind me that every day is worth living and every moment worth cherishing. Together, they empower me in a way they do not know and I feel like I can beat a Decepticon hands down. No why, just the illusion and confidence that comes with being a mum.

All I know is, life is gonna get even better starting from today.

I may not be a pilot, a nurse, a teacher or a CEO. But I am a mother and that's my destiny all along. So with every breath and every heartbeat, I am living my dream and I can't be thankful enough for that.

Happy 30th to me.
