My #PursoftMOMents as a stay-at-home mum

As a stay-at-home mum, I deal with mess on a daily, or should I say hourly, basis. Messy kitchen, messy living room, messy dining table, messy floors, messy beds, messy kids. Yes, with an infant, a three-year-old and a six-year-old in the house, it is quite impossible to keep everything, and everyone, spick and span.

My first priority is, of course, the kids. While I can close one eye when it comes to a dusty floor, dirty sink or a bed strewn with toys, I try my best to make sure that the kids are clean. Besides taking showers and washing their hands and feet, I also help them to wipe away food stains, vomit, leaked poo, mucus, sweat drops and so on. Yes, all that has become part and parcel of my life now.

Come to think of it, there is one commonly used but easily overlooked household product that all mothers need - tissue paper. I honestly believe that all of us have it at home and use it so often that it becomes a necessity. For me, it has become natural to reach out for a tissue when my baby regurgitates his milk, when my toddler smears food over her face and when my primary schooler has a runny nose. In fact, it has become a reflex and thus I have to make sure that we always have tissue paper readily available in the house.

In wanting quantity, it doesn't mean we have to compromise on quality. As mums, we want the best for our family and hope to keep them safe, happy and healthy. We've just started using Pursoft tissue products which come with a unique blend of 100% virgin pulp fibers that delivers the Pursoft premium quality - soft and thick.

We have a tissue box in every room of the house because you never know when it might come in handy or when 'emergencies' might happen. The facial tissue comes in 3 ply and since a single sheet usually suffices in most cases, this thickness encourages the use of less sheets.

For family with kids who is constantly on the go, I also like the fact that Pursoft comes in travel pack which can fit into our bags easily. We do also carry wet wipes but there are instances where I prefer the use of dry tissue paper, I'll share more of these moments later.

Another necessity that is commonly overlooked in the house is... bathroom tissue! Or toilet paper as most of us would call it. Pursoft bathrolls come with unscented or scented core and a 4 ply emboss. Wait, before you think that you will go for the unscented one because you don't like smells on your toilet paper, here's the genius part. For the scented bathroom rolls, the fragrance oil has been added on the internal core, not the tissue paper itself. How smart, right? In addition, it comes with a highly desired home fragrance - green tea! I have to tell you I was pleasantly surprised when the bathroom rolls arrived and there was a lingering fragrance in my home. The scent is mild and not too overpowering, yet strong enough to be noticed. Well, I'm definitely loving the fragrance and it's now become a good thing that I have a habit of keeping empty toilet rolls in my bathroom.

So what makes Pursoft different? Here are three things to know.

1) Made with 100% Virgin Pulp fibers
Pursoft tissue is made of pure pulp which gives it smoother and softer texture, at the same time enhancing the paper strength which results in less tears. It is also less susceptible to skin allergies.

2) Free from Optical Brightening Agents (OBA)
It is safe for the skin and free from artificial ingredients like OBA, which makes tissue look whiter. This will be of relief to mums of kids with sensitive skin or mums who worry about skin irritation to their babies.

3) Forest Stewardship CouncilTM (FSCTM) certified
FSCTM is an international non profit organization that promotes responsible management of the world's forests and ensures that no illegal woods have been used. By supporting FSCTM certified products such as Pursoft, it ensures that we do not contribute to irresponsible foresting and at the same time teach our kids to be environmentally responsible.

Being a stay-at-home mum, something which I've always been thankful for and don't take for granted, gives me the chance to be with my kids around the clock. That means I get to witness many precious moments which I might have otherwise missed out on. Here are some of our #PursoftMOMents.

Sisters are for sharing laughter and wiping tears. The big sister helps to dry the little one's tears after an outburst, which warms my heart and makes me hope that they can be best friends for life.

Living in this hot and humid weather, it's hard not to perspire. When hankies are out of reach, we turn to our trusty tissue. My mum always reminds me to use dry, not wet, tissue to wipe off sweat so as to prevent white spots.

With a baby who drools and possets, it helps to have caring sisters who will rush to clean him up. That's one good thing about having more kids!

A baby's skin is soft and delicate. Having tissue, which is safe and gentle on his skin, in the baby cot also prepares me for unexpected occasions like when he sneezes or pees.

We always make sure we have tissue paper in the car, especially when we go on long journeys, for runny noses, spit ups and food stains.

For someone who likes to craft with her kids, it is essential to have a box of tissue at our craft sessions so we can clean up easily, wipe off glue or glitter, or make tissue paper flowers.

Bedtime comes with storytelling and tissue comes in handy when we need to wipe off dust, milk stains, water droplets or saliva. Or when we pretend to be brides and are in need of a veil.

As a mum, I feel assured knowing what we use is gentle on my kids and safe for the environment. What's your #PursoftMOMent?

  2. It looks like staying at home mum is not a simple ‘job’. I really thought that staying at home with kids and being a housewife is a perfect occupation because you can always see what kids are doing and, also, it gives you better communication with kids. But it looks kind of really hard to enjoy staying at home with kids. But I really wonder if it is somehow really bad and stressful. Of course, sometimes messy home and noisy kids can be a headache but I think that working would be worse. As for me, I prefer to stay at home and take care of my kids and, also, husband. But I believe that besides kids, every mum should have a hobby that will help her put the stress away. And I really hope that you have a hobby and enjoy being with kids. Good luck to you!
