Creativity 521 #42 - DIY ribbon rose hair band

There are many things that girls cannot have enough of and one of them is hair accessories. Remember the brads hair band that I made for Angel? Well, she has been loving and wearing it so much that it motivated me to do another DIY hair band for her.

In this week's Creativity 521, I did something I've wanted to do for some time - Make a Ribbon Rose Hair Band!

What we used:

1) Ribbons in colour and width of your choice
2) Scissors
3) Thread and needle

Since Angel already owns a plethora of pink hair bands, I wanted to use a cooler colour and decided on making a blue one. The length of ribbon you need for one rose varies depending on the width and how full you want your flowers to bloom, but a good start will be around 70-80cm.

Here is the step-by-step tutorial:

Not too difficult, right? Angel was so delighted with her new hair accessory that she couldn't wait to wear it out the moment she saw it.

I prefer my roses to be at the side but you can fill them up all the way if you desire. I tied knots at the ends to prevent fraying and to secure the hair band, I simply tied them behind her neck and underneath her hair.

As the ribbon flowers and band were so light, she looked pretty comfortable and never did try to yank it off. I loved how the band complemented her turquoise dress, don't you think so too?

If a simple handmade gift like this that is inexpensive, fast and easy to make can bring such a big smile on her face, I definitely don't mind doing it more often!

  4. Hi. I have been following your blog for quite some time and you are so creative. Have you thought of starting small classes for young children in your house? I have a 4-years old who I am keen to enrol him if you are starting. =)

    1. Hi Carol, oh wow I am so flattered! =) It is actually my dream to one day be a craft teacher to small kids. Hehe. Alas with the little sister who still sticks to me like glue, it is not very possible for the time being. If I ever get a chance to open my very own crafting class, you will be the first one to know! =) Thanks for the kind comment!
