Fairer, smoother skin - Just a dream? Or not?

Since young, I've always had a liking for sunshine, beaches, fresh air and anything to do with outdoors. Now that I've turned 30, that love has not faltered. I suppose that is my part of my character and it will always be here to stay. However, while personality traits don't change, the sad fact is our skin does.

To admit, I am not the type to go for weekly facials or spend a bomb on skincare products. After becoming a mum, my me-time gets dramatically reduced and it becomes a habit to prioritise the kids before myself. As a result, my skin gets even more neglected than before. While I still cleanse my face daily, I practically forget the fact that I have a body to look after too.

How many of the 10 signs do you experience? For me, at least four of them. Although I have known all along that I do not have perfect skin, as time passes, I realise that a plethora of skin problems have started to surface due to the scorching sun and unforgiving nature of age. This includes dryness, dullness and uneven pigmentation in skin. As much as I wish to shut one eye and ignore them, the other eye is fully aware of the key message that it's time to do something about it. This is especially so if I still wish to engage in regular outdoor fun with my girls and trust me, I want that badly.

Recently, I was introduced to the NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF 25 PA++ and invited to share my 14-day efficacy user experience. It promises to deliver "noticeably more radiant and fairer skin within 14 days", of which I took with a pinch of salt simply because I do not believe in miracles when it comes to skincare. Or weight loss. Or hair regrowth.

Nonetheless, a glimpse at my parched arms which looked way too thirsty made me ask the question "Why not?" and so I gamely took on the challenge.

Contrary to what I expected, I actually enjoy the process of applying this serum on my body after a bath and love the sensation it creates. Here are some of the reasons why.
  • The serum is light, fluid and easily absorbed into my body
  • It does not leave behind a greasy or sticky after feel, not even after an entire day of activities
  • Provides my skin with a slight sheen that is not overpowering and makes me feel like a glowing mum
  • Gives off a mild, fragrant odour which made the hubby ask "Why do you smell so good today?" even on Day 1
  • Contains 95% pure Vitamin C to penetrate deeply to repair sun damaged skin and lighten dull skin (Did you know? Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant, reduces melanin production and lightens skin naturally)
  • Best of all, it is economically priced at $9.55 for a 200ml tube. Yay for the pockets!

So while I am not aiming to transform into Snow White, I am going to diligently use this whitening serum and in the meantime continue with my everyday activities. I think I might have just found a way to quench my skin's thirst and protect it from the sun, which I have a love-hate relationship with. Pssst, in case you don't know, humid weather does not erase the skin's need to be constantly moisturised!

Stay tuned to find out how I emerge from the 14-day challenge.
