Twenty nine

Posted by ~Summer~ on April 10, 2012

Yes, I'm back from a fabulously amazingly awesome Easter holidays.

If you are keen to see the pictures we took in Legoland and all the fun places, you have to give me some time because guess what, I inexplicably took 9gb of videos and photos and even if I have eight arms (technically I only have two but they are on permanent loan to Angel and are only free for 1-2 hours every day), it's going to take me a little while to sort them out.

That said, I still wanna write about some things there were on my mind for the past few days.

It's where I am in my life now. The final year I can still proclaim myself as a 20++ year old before I join the 30s club.

Much as I like to think of myself as a mature and sophisticated lady, the fact remains that deep down, there is a child in me that never seems to go away.

I like to dance in the rain and splash in puddles.

I like to sing (or shriek) at the top of my lungs and go way out of tune.

I like to play hide and seek or a game of tag in the park.

I like to watch cartoons (not Family Guy but Doraemon) and my eyes are glued to the screen when I watch animated films like Happy Feet.

I like to play on swings and I can never resist slides.

I probably loved Legoland just as much as Angel did.

That said, this has been a year of growing up and self-discovery for me. Whether it was due to mothering an effervescent toddler in a foreign land, starting up ahappymum, gaining and losing a baby, undergoing my first ever operation, or a combination of them all, I'm not that sure.

I have learnt that:

~ Age and wrinkles do not define how old you are. It's your heart that does. Even if we have a head of white hair, that doesn't mean we can't skip in the rain or sing out loud to "It's my life".

~ You can't always win in life. The losses are there to teach you to treasure your winnings. If you suffer a bad fall, so long as you are still kicking, it just means you have to climb up. Bit by bit.

~ It's ok to be sad. It's ok to grieve. It's ok to cry your heart out. But when the time comes, you have to open the door of happiness and let the smiles, the laughter and the joy enter your empty heart once again.

~ Every child is a miracle. A miracle like no other. A miracle that changes your life the first day it arrives. A miracle that will stay with you, create wonders and unforgettable moments. Treasure every miracle. Embrace every wonder. Live every moment.

Yes, that's what I like to do with my life.

To live every moment of it.

I wanna sing like no one's listening, dance like no one's watching, live like I've never lived.

I wanna be happy, I wanna be on top of this world, I wanna shine on my own stage.

I wanna love and be loved like never before.

I wanna cherish and find beauty in all the small and simple things in life.

I wanna hope, I wanna rejoice, I wanna look forward to all the good things that I know are waiting for me.

And you know what?

When all that happens, I will still wanna dance in the rain, run in the park and enjoy a cartoon while licking a popsicle.

Truth is, I just wanna be me.

Happy 29th.
